Drovers Rest is a 16th-century organic farm just outside Hay-on-Wye (yes, the one with all the bookshops and the literary festival!). It’s surrounded by fields, woodlands, and hills, giving it a stunning backdrop that feels relaxed and a little wild around the edges. There’s a lovely mix of open space and tucked-away corners - perfect for both the big moments and the quieter ones in between. It’s a proper countryside venue, not a manicured estate, which is exactly what we love about it.

Being in England, outdoor ceremonies are allowed, so (weather permitting) we’ll be getting married in the orchard, surrounded by trees and nature. Don’t worry! the sheep will have moved out by then. If the weather doesn’t play along, the ceremony will be in one of the barns instead. The reception will be held a short walk away at the main farm near the parking. Everything’s happening on-site, so once you’re there, you can just relax and enjoy the day.

Drovers Rest is a 10-15 minutes drive from Hay-on-Wye, tucked away in the Herefordshire countryside. The postcode (HR3 6AG) will NOT take you to the entrance, so we recommend typing Drovers Rest directly into Google Maps (or your preferred app) and following those directions instead. As you get close, you should see signs for Drovers Rest — and possibly a few sheep on the lane.

There’s parking on-site at the main farm, which is also where the reception will be later in the day. Once you’ve parked, you’ll be able to wander down to the orchard for the ceremony!

If you’re coming by train, the nearest stations are Hereford or Abergavenny - both around a 35–40 minute drive away.

Uber does NOT operate in the area, and local taxis will need to be booked in advance. The venue recommends guests coordinate with each other and arrange a minibus or shared taxi ahead of time. Most of the local drivers are used to weddings at Drovers Rest and can help plan timings and routes.
